Position Description
Program Manager – for Immediate hire

POSTION SUMMARY: Seeking to fill our Program Manager void. The candidate will be responsible for service and youth program development and implementation, staff recruitment, training and management, evaluations, and will be a liaison with schools and community organizations.

PROGRAMS: Foot Soldiers, a street maintenance service that stipends neighborhood teens to provide homeowners in the Bed-Stuy, Crown Heights, and Clinton Hill areas of Brooklyn, NY, with yard sweeping, garbage removal and snow shoveling services. The program uniquely links the stipends teens earn to their academic achievements, job readiness trainings, household responsibilities, physical activities, personal development workshops, and community projects; and New York Knicks Poetry Slam, a seasonal program in partnership with the NY Knicks that helps participants develop their ability to write and recite performance and nonperformance style poetry, and ultimately prepares participants for an annual teen poetry competition at Madison Square Garden.

COMPENSATION:  $30,000.00 annually

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepare programmatic forms.

Planning: Formulate and/or enhance policies and systems for existing and future programs.
Manage daily operations. Ensure the purchasing, delivery, & tracking of inventory (materials, supplies, equipment) & transportation. Hold Supervisor(s) accountable for services and ensure that they are safely able to conduct their work according to guidelines with adequate supplies & services. Facilitate flow of communication & written reporting between stewards, members, & management.  Enrollment of teen Participants.  Prepare material, interview, & select candidates. Enroll accepted students into the program.
Staff Training.  Develop & refine supervisors’ training to meet service goals & reflect feedback from stewards, parents, homeowners, & community stakeholders. Build a team of volunteers & part-time staff to support programs
Evaluation. In tandem with support staff, conduct recurring staff & teen evaluations.
Other responsibilities.  Assume other special activities and responsibilities as directed by the CEO.

TIME REQUIREMENT: F\T – 40 hours per week 12:00PM – 8:00PM Mondays – Thursdays; 11AM – 7:00PM Fridays or Saturday of each week. During the snow season PR-G’s management staff is required to play a role in snow any day of the week between 7:00AM and 9:00PM (pending snow fall).

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
·         Bachelors Degree and or present at least four years staff/customer management experience
Proven ability to work independently and excellent critical thinking, problem solving, and communication skills
Demonstrate organization, attention to detail and possess strong written and oral communication skills
·         Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Internet Research
A strong health physical report from a qualified general physician
Able to lift and operate large and sometimes heavy cleaning equipment (including snow blowers). Must be comfortable with shoveling and driving in snow and providing cleaning services when necessary
Possess a clean non expired NYS Drivers License and reliable cell phone

PREFERRED TANGIBLE ITEMS, QUALITIES, SKILLS, ATTRIBUTES, & ACHIEVEMENTS:
·         Highlight sales and marketing experience
Provide evidence of a strong volunteer history
HAVE a reliable vehicle with up-to-date registration and insurance
Have military-like (i.e. ROTC, Explorers, boy/girl scouts, army, auxiliary, etc) and or martial arts background

ORGANIZATION SUMMARY:  Bed Stuy’s Project Re-Generation, Inc. (PR-G) is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization in Bedford-Stuyvesant (Bed-Stuy), Brooklyn NY. PR-G’s mission is to eliminate teenage idleness in Bed-Stuy and similar NYC neighborhoods through education, recreation and partnerships.

ENVIRONMENT:  Work is performed in a grassroots open office and outdoors on occasion.
